Prof. SHIMAZU Naoko Visits Europe for Academic Exchanges

From mid-September to early October, Tokyo College Professor SHIMAZU Naoko visited multiple universities and academic institutions in Europe and participated in various academic events.

From 9-14 September, Prof. SHIMAZU and Associate Professor Michael FACIUS participated in a one-week global history workshop with Professors Andreas RENNER and Mate RIGO at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) in Munich. This was funded by the LMU-UTokyo Fund held at LMU to foster academic exchange between the two institutions.

On 16 September, Prof. SHIMAZU presented a research paper on ‘A Photograph with Two Stories: Lisa Larsen and the Bandung Conference of 1955’, at the Politics and Gender Seminar, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

On 20 September, Prof. SHIMAZU presented at the Global Diplomacy Network, Department of History, University of Stockholm, on ‘Cold War Asia: A Visual History of Global Diplomacy’.

On 30 September, Prof. SHIMAZU gave a public lecture at the Center for Political History, University of Antwerp.

On 2 October, Prof. SHIMAZU presented a paper at an international conference on ‘The Discourse of Race between Europe and China’ held at College de France in Paris.
