Tokyo College Symposium: “Beyond Corona Crisis” ①Medicine・Epidemiology
Tokyo College held the online symposium "Medicine・Epidemiology", the first of the series "Beyond Corona Crisis"
Tokyo College holds the sequential online symposia in thinking about the “Corona Crisis” and the future world. Medicine・Epidemiology is one of the six themes we have set for the symposia. We invited three experts for this symposium: MASAOMI Nangaku (Head of Graduate School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo), TATEDA Kazuhiro (President of The Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases), and NISHIDA Osamu (President of The Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine). Each expert gave a lecture on the COVID-19 in the domestic and global contexts and discussed the current issues and future initiatives afterward. Here is the overview of this symposium: “Historically, the widespread contagion of infectious diseases has repeatedly been a source of major social upheaval. Covid-19 is a global pandemic with a significant social impact, overwhelming the healthcare systems of various states and causing large numbers of deaths. In this talk, we will outline the current state of Covid-19 in Japan and globally, set out what has become clear and what remains uncertain about this new pandemic, and discuss what measures should be taken going forward, and what we can expect in the future.”

Abstract |
Medicine・Epidemiology is one of the six themes we have set to consider in thinking about the “Corona Crisis” and the future world. Experts from the discipline will discuss this theme in a round table. Historically, the widespread contagion of infectious diseases has repeatedly been a source of major social upheaval. Covid-19 is a global pandemic with a significant social impact, overwhelming the healthcare systems of various states and causing large numbers of deaths. In this talk, we will outline the current state of Covid-19 in Japan and globally, set out what has become clear and what remains uncertain about this new pandemic, and discuss what measures should be taken going forward, and what we can expect in the future. |
