環境科学者であり、持続可能性科学の専門家であり、学際的な研究に積極的に注目しています。博士研究ではフィリピンでの事例研究により、住民参加型森林管理のレジリエンスのパスウェイを発見していた学際的研究を実施した。先住民および非先住民のコミュニティにおける世帯の多機能なレジリエンスに焦点を当てた。特任研究員として、以下の2つの主要なプロジェクトで研究した（a）サブサハラアフリカの産業作物拡大による食糧安全保障への影響（FICESSA）、および（b）東南アジアにおける気候変動適応能力開発プロセス。食糧安全保障プロジェクトでは、アフリカでのレジリエンス、脆弱性、調査の設計を実施した。気候変動適応プロジェクトでは、地域の利害関係者の優先順位と気候変動の影響を受ける様々なセクターの緊急性を認識する定性的アプローチを実施し、ヒートアイランドによる人間の健康への影響のモデリングを研究した。
現在は、ブサハラアフリカの産業作物拡大によるレジリエンスに関する研究を続けているが、さらに、高齢化と縮小に注目して、これらの人口統計学的プロセスが引き起こす課題だけでなく機会の観点から、持続可能な未来社会に興味を広げている。また、日本人の環境的なアイデンティティにも興味を持っています。
