コルベット氏は40年間にわたり、英国、オーストラリア、日本の大学で、日本の景気動向と政策、金融政策、東アジアの金融統合について教育研究活動を行なってきました。 日本の経済経験が他の国とどの点が異なり、どこが似ているのかについて着目し、日本から学ぶべき側面を引き出しながら、国際的な文脈で日本を考察しています。学術活動に加え、コルベット氏は2012年から2017年までANUで副総長補佐（研究及び研究訓練担当）を務め、2018年から2021年まで日豪研究交流基金 のリオティント・フェローとして二国間の産学共同研究プロジェクトのための研究助成金支援プログラムを設立・運営しました。そのほか、OECD、世界銀行、アジア開発銀行、日本の財務省などの国際機関のコンサルタントを歴任しました。
