社会的に不利な立場にある人々、特に限られた資源のなかに生きる性的少数者（SGM）が直面する健康格差を解決するための革新的で技術を駆使したコミュニティ参加型の介入の設計を、公衆衛生学の訓練を受けた行動科学者として研究している。これまで、多様な文化的環境（中国、米国、南アフリカ、ベトナム）においてデジタルヘルスプロジェクトに積極的に取り組み、質的・量的アプローチを用いて周縁化されたコミュニティにおける健康ニーズを評価し、HIV/性感染症（STI）ケアの連続性（予防、検査、診断、治療、維持などを含む）を改善するための携帯電話を用いた介入の開発と調査に携わる。特に、博士論文では、中国の同性愛者、バイセクシャル、男性と性交渉をする男性（GBMSM）の間で、生物医学的HIV予防戦略としての曝露前予防薬（PrEP）の摂取を促進するモバイルアプリの開発とテストを行った。結果として、アプリは対象者に受け入れられ、実現の可能性が示唆されるとともに、従来の臨床環境以外の代替モデルの提供によって、ヘルスケアへのアクセスを拡大することが強く望まれていることが明らかになった。このことから、東京カレッジでは、デジタルヘルスを従来の医療環境に統合する機会を見出し、日本において医療制度で充分なサービスを受けられないことが多い国際的なSGMコミュニティの間でヘルス・イノベーションを促進するための研究を遂行している。
